For 2 1⁄2 years, I have had the privilege to serve on Church Council.
While learning the many aspects of council roles, I have seen the need of church members to serve on this body. Council is faced with a wide variety of issues to help our church to continue to grow and be financially sound.
Problem solving, customer service, objectivity, are a few traits I developed in my business career that would be beneficial as a council member. I could use these characteristics to help make decisions on issues brought to council.
During the past year, new challenges have been presented and met because of strong leadership. This leadership is what will continue to allow Joy to grow, but at a pace that does not compromise the things that make it so welcoming now- God’s love felt upon entering, the friendly congregation, the community spirit, and remaining financially sound.
John 3:18 tells us we need to walk the walk not just talk the talk. “Dear children let us not love with words or speech but with actions and truth.” I would like to continue to share my love of God, by serving on Council and helping Joy grow, making good decisions about the future of the church.
