Most likely the days of knocking on a neighbor's door to borrow a cup of sugar are gone but not because everyone has a vat of sugar at their disposal. It is more likely due to everyone being busy or preoccupied, but what if we took a few minutes to make our neighbors feel welcome or show them we care. Here are few ways to do that:

  • When you see that new neighbor out in their yard, walk over, introduce yourself and welcome them to neighborhood.
  • Do you have a hard time starting a conversation and who doesn't? The next time your neighbor is out watering their lawn compliment them on how great it looks. Compliments are a great way to break the ice.
  • When you take your furry friend for a walk, say hi to the person you always see walking their dog too. Ask them about their dog because most dog owners love talking about their pals.
  • Did you hear about a neighbor who is going through a sickness or challenging time? Even if you don't know them,  drop off a card to let them know you are thinking of them. Go a step further and ask them how you can help. For example, pick up their groceries, mow their lawn, water their flowers or walk their dog are just a few ways to show someone God's love when they need it most.

These may all seem like small things to you, but they could mean the world to someone else.
